Norwex Foam Soap ~ Independent Norwex Consultant

Foam soap is a type of liquid soap that has been whipped with air to create soap bubbles. The benefits are that using a Foam Soap encourages proper hand washing because it is easier to lather. You waste less soap & use less water because the user does not have to wait for the liquid to mix with the running water in order to properly wash and it typically takes LESS water to rinse the soap off.

Fresh Wash ~ Norwex Independent Contsultant

Healthy tips - did you know that although there is controversy surrounding vitamin C's effect on colds, recent research shows that while Vitamin C can't prevent colds, it can help cut down on the duration and severity of colds. Did you also know that you should wipe down peels on fruit even though you don't eat the peel? This removes residues, dirt and oils that can transmit organisms to the fruit flesh that you eat. Or soak in the Norwex Fresh Wash!

Tips for beginner models ~ Wyoming Model Photographer

Here are some tips that I have learned. Yes, I used to be a plus-size model until I decided to focus on being the photographer instead.

You have to be willing to work it. You can't take a few pictures here and there and expect to get modeling jobs. You have to get yourself out there. Make yourself a Facebook Fan page. Join Model Mayhem and Fashion World Models. You must keep them up to date. And interact with your fans. And don't for get to connect with me on them. My links are FWM  and MM
Let me know when you are fully committed and I will get you in contact with more people. You have to work it and really want it.

You need to follow the industry. What is hot, new, and trendy. Study the posing of the models in magazines. Check out Pinterest. My Pinterest Page is http://pinterest.com/jrussellimagery/ You can find some great ideas on there. Easy Ways To Meet Early Success - Find A Niche For Yourself: What do you enjoy? If you don't want to do bikini then don't. Find what you are comfortable with. Watch all the seasons of American Next Top Model and The Face. You can also see some past shoots on my website at http://www.jrussellimagery.com

Know make up and hair. Until you get on with an agency you will need to be able to do your own hair and make-up.

I can't say it enough practice, practice, and practice posing, smiling with eyes, expressions!

Only put your BEST images in your portfolio. You should have a well put together digital AND printed portfolio. DO NOT print through Wal-Mart. Use a professional printing company. Your photographer should be able to print for you or recommend one to you.

A modeling assignment can be very strenuous and demanding. It is only to be expected that competitiveness will be very high. You also need to sustain a high level of professionalism, health and fitness to find work in this competitive industry.

The following are some of the attributes of successful models ..
  1. Learning ability and intelligence
  2. Self confidence
  3. Willingness to travel and leave friends and family behind
  4. Good organization skills
  5. A healthy body and lots of get-up-and-go!
  6. A model who is comfortable in setting goals and not afraid to go after them with a dogged determination
  7. Resistance to peer pressure - Stay drug and alcohol free

Applying Makeup for photographs~ Wyoming Photographer

Doing makeup for photographs is a little different than every day makeup.  Some things look great in person but don't translate well in picturesHere are a few makeup tips to help you look your best when you are photographed:

1.  Use matte colors - Although shimmer can look great when applied properly, if you are a little unsure about what to do, it's always safe to go with matte colors.  Matte makeup won't reflect light, making it easy to apply and easy to photograph.

2.  Fill in your brows - Even if you don't fill in your brows on a daily basis, fill them in for your pictures.  Your eyes and face will look so much more complete if your brows are looking polished.  This especially goes for blondes.  Blonde eyebrows will disappear in photographs.

3.  Makeup will photograph 2 shades lighter - Lip stick color should be a seriously BRIGHT color, but you would never guess it by look at the picture.  Makeup doesn't translate as vibrant in photographs.  We recommend doing your blush, eyes and lip color a little more vibrant than you normally would.

4.  Use powder - Even if your makeup is applied perfectly, if you look shiny in your pictures it can ruin your whole look.  Once your makeup is complete, use a finishing or setting powder to make everything more matte.  We recommend even taking some powder with you (or oil blotting sheets), especially if it's a warm day.

5.  Wear false lashes - We have never had a customer who didn't like wearing false lashes, even if they were hesitant about them at first. They make all the difference!  Once again, false lashes can be sooo long, but in the pictures they look perfectly proportionate.  If you want something more natural, buy the individual lashes and just put a few on the outer corners.

6.  Apply your makeup in natural light - When you put on your makeup, sit by a window or in a room with a lot of natural light.  This will give you the best idea of what your makeup really looks like, and how it will look in the pictures.

7.  Wax - makeup does not adhere well to peach fuzz.  Whatever you normally wax on your face, wax it before your pictures.  We suggest waxing at least 48 hours before your pictures to give enough time for any redness and swelling to go down.

8. Wear lip gloss- I, myself, hardly ever wear lip gloss.  I am a chapstick girl through and through.  But when it comes to photos, lip gloss is a must.  I consider my lips on the smaller side, so wearing lip gloss really helps them look full and plump in pictures.

9.  Wear black mascara - Some people think black is too harsh for their skin tone, but we promise that when it comes to pictures, black looks good on everyone.  Wearing black mascara will bring out your eyes a lot more than brown will.

FAQ For Boudoir

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I prepare for my boudoir or beauty session?
Please come with clean hair and a clean face free of makeup unless otherwise discussed.  If you are booked for a boudoir session please don’t forget to shave, and wear loose clothing and undergarments so that they do not leave marks on your skin.  It is imperative that you do not have elastic marks on your skin for the session!

What should I bring?
Bring several sets of outfits to choose from.  It’s always better to bring more rather than not having enough. Bring a pair of shoes for each outfit; stunning heels can really make a shot great!  Not to mention they give your legs a nice length and tighten everything up.  More importantly, they just make you feel down right sexy!  Don’t forget to complete the look with any jewelry and accessories that you may want to use.

Can I bring a friend?
Of Course you can.  Your comfort is top priority and we would rather you be comfortable than overly nervous.

When can I expect my products?
We offer a variety of products, some of our products take as little as 4 days but others can take up to 3 weeks.  If you are planning your session as a gift for someone, make sure to contact us at least three months prior to the date you need the product by to assure that you get your date booked and products delivered when necessary.  We do offer rush orders for an additional charge, but prefer to have extra time just in case.

What does “Boudoir” mean?
Boudoir is French for bedroom, which most often is the setting for these photos.

I really want to do a session, but I don’t think I’m in shape enough...
BIG MISCONCEPTION!!!!  Boudoir is NOT just for skinny women!  It is for any woman of every size.  All women are beautiful.  It is our job as photographers to maximize your greatest assets and minimize the things you’re self-conscious about.  Curves are a beautiful thing and we love to photograph them.  If you really feel the need to lose weight before your session, schedule it for a few months away and let it be your driving factor and sweetest treat for reaching your goal!  Also, talk to us about our "Get Healthy" incentive plan to get a bonus on your boudoir session.

I have a few images I like I found online and in magazines, can I bring them so I can get a shot like them?
Most definitely!!!  The best way to show us what style you would like to portray is to bring us sample images of what you have in mind.  Though we will not replicate any images exactly, we will produce something unique to you in the same style.  You can find images online through various search terms such as boudoir photography, burlesque photography, erotic photography, intimate photography, glamour and artistic nudes.  Be sure to bring any photos you have saved with you for your consultation appointment or email them before your session date so that we are prepared.

I want to do a boudoir session but I don’t want my photos posted online.  Are my photos safe?
Yes, rest assured that your photos are completely safe. Every woman who you have seen on our website, blog, and anywhere else online or in print form has given us the honor of using their photos through a signed model release form.  We will NEVER post ANY photos without signed permission.  Many women find it a privilege to have their photos chosen to be displayed, but we certainly understand privacy concerns.

Can I post my photos online?
We gladly offer digital photos sized for the web with our logo on them.  Copyright law states that the photos cannot be cropped or altered in any way.  If you would like the photo cropped differently or changed in any way, please contact us and we will happily do it for you.

Who owns the copyrights to my photos?  What does that mean?
Jacque Russell and Mark Russell, the photographers of Jacque Russell Imagery, own the copyrights to all the photographs taken during the session.  This means that it is illegal to reproduce the photos in any way.  That includes printing, posting online (without the Jacque Russell Imagery watermark), and/or selling the photos to others.

Do you provide lingerie or wardrobe for my session?
We do not provide you with lingerie for the session because we can't carry every size.. But we do have some that can be used.  We will have a few accessories and things to use, but please bring your own wardrobe.

Do I need to buy all new lingerie for my session?
You do not need to buy all new lingerie for your session.  While it is exciting having new lingerie that makes you feel sensual and sexy, (especially if you’re presenting your album as a gift and your partner hasn’t seen the lingerie yet!) just about anything can be made to look sexy for a boudoir session.  You can use your partner's clothing (favorite T-shirt, button down shirt, boxers, uniform, etc.) for a personal touch, a sports jersey, leather jacket, bed sheet, cocktail dress, or you can opt for wearing nothing at all.  Be creative!

Do I have to be nude?
Boudoir sessions can be stunning when you’re wearing anything from dresses and lingerie to nothing at all.  You most certainly do not have to be nude for your session.  What you wear, or don't wear, is entirely up to you and your comfort level.  Your comfort is our top priority.

Is the photographer male or female?
Both!  We, Jacque Russell and Mark Russell, work as a team to create stunning images that reflect visions from a male perspective as well as a female perspective.  This is especially important if the recipient of the photographs is a man.  Our visions are uniquely different as are our styles of photography.  We are very fortunate to be able provide a dynamic combination of styles and perspectives.

Do you retouch skin?
Yes, we do retouch skin and temporary imperfections. If you have birthmarks, scars or permanent features that you would like removed please discuss this with us.

Do you help with posing?
As boudoir photographers it is our job to find the most flattering poses for you.  We will give you guidance throughout the photographic process and help you to look your absolute best!  We will also coach you with facial expressions.

Can I bring music?
Of course!  In fact we highly recommend that you bring a good play-list that gets YOU going.  Music can really set the tone and get you in the mood.  If you don’t have any music to bring, we have an ever-expanding play-list for boudoir sessions.

Can I drink to relax before I come to my session?
We advise you to limit yourself to one drink ONLY!  One drink can work wonders to relax you, while more than one can hinder the process and lessen your awareness.  Not to mention make you feel bloated, which is NOT good for a boudoir session!  We do have a small selection of wine available for you to sip on while you're getting pampered during hair and makeup.

I'm extremely nervous; can I take something for my nerves?
We highly advise against taking any sort of anxiety medication before your session, unless it is a medication that you take daily.  Every client who comes to us for a boudoir session is nervous, it's perfectly normal.  We will help you to relax and feel comfortable during your session.  We will provide good music and great conversation to loosen you up.  It generally takes about 5 minutes into the session for you to not even realize you're in your undies anymore!

Do you photograph same sex couples?
Yes we do.  We know that love has no boundaries and enjoy photographing all couples, no matter their sexual orientation..

Will you photograph a man?
Absolutely!  Our site is geared towards women because boudoir photography is more popular among women, but we do not discriminate against sex, or in any way. Couples are welcome as well!

Project 52 ~ Video Blog

For this week I decided to try a video blog. It is something that I want to do for advertising and for the wonderful women I shoot. This is a combination of all that I have shot so far. I am wanting to get some video footage to go with the stills. This way they can look at it a remember how beautiful they felt. Let me know what you think.
