Pin-Up Make-up tips
Pin-up fashion is a classic vintage fashion style which exudes femininity and style. Since vintage styles have been making a huge comeback find out how to create your own pin-up girl make-up. This vintage fashion style, the pin-up fashion, is a style which can easily be recognized due to the sexy adorable looking outfits, the trademark pumps, the sensual make-up and eye catching hairstyles. This 1950's fashion style has made a huge comeback, becoming more and more popular among women.
The new designs maintain the same patterns as they used to in the past. It seems that this fashion style didn't need any modern touches implemented since it looks gorgeous as original.
When it comes to make-up you can go the original way or you can spice things up a bit by creating or experimenting with new colors and styles.
To create this gorgeous pin-up girl style make-up you need to:
apply foundation according to your skin type. Use a powder foundation for normal and oily skin types and liquid foundation for dry skin. Use a shade that matches your skin type. The original pin-up make-up had a certain paler look, but it is best to work exactly with you type of skin
for the eyeshadow you can use colors which work best for you. You can use 2 or three color eyeshadows to create certain effects like depth and dimension. This way your eyes will stand out even more. You can use gold colors, matte or shimmery, depending on the rest of your outfi
apply a black liquid eyeliner close to your upper eyelashes starting from your inner corner towards the outer corner. Extend the eyeliner upwards and out to create a cat eye effect. This way your eyes will appear more sensual
define your eyebrows with an angled brush and use an eyeshadow a few shades darker than your hair color. You will be able to give your eyebrows the definition and thickness they need in order to soften the facial features
using a lip liner line your lips to give them a better definition. Use a lip liner which is similar to your lip color. Make your lips bigger by applying the lip liner just above the lip line or contour under your lip line top make your lips appear smaller
apply a lipstick in bright red shade for a sexy and sensual look
as far as the hairstyles go choose one that matches your type of hair and hair length. There are so many gorgeous ways to create a pin-up girl hairstyle. Choose a hairstyle which works best for you and enhances your facial features
The Pin-up girl fashion is a gorgeous and feminine style which didn't come as a surprise when it made a comeback.

What is Pin-up? ~ Wyoming Pin-up Photographer
One type of modeling that is becoming very popular again is pinup modeling. As the name implies pinup images are photos, drawings or other illustrations of beautiful women that were literally put up on people's walls for display purposes. This concept has been around since as early as the 1910s-1920s. Actresses (Lauren Bacall, Ingrid Bergman, Brooke Shields, Pamela Anderson), models (Cindy Crawford, Anna Nicole Smith, Tyra Banks) and other female celebrities (Dita Von Teese, Katy Perry) have been used in pinup form for decades. Betty Page is one of the most famous pinup models of all time. Playboy Magazine even dubbed her the "Queen of all pinups." Although she also dabbled in fetish/bondage themes, her pinup career is well known around the world and she has a legion of fans even today.
However, you no longer have to be an A-list celeb in order to do pinup. The art of pinup photography and modeling are quickly finding their niche in the industry. It isn't fair to pit the success of this type of modeling against another, like fashion/runway, because pinup modeling is a giant in its own right and if you're interested in pursuing this field, there are a couple of ways you can go about it.
In terms of the requirements there really aren't any! A pinup model can be any height, any size and weight isn't an issue. Curvy, vivacious figures are welcomed with open arms when it comes to pinup so if you aren't the typical size 2 or have a waif-like build to be a runway model, then you may want to consider your options with pinup. There is one requirement, however, that should be noted and followed: pinup models should be 18 years of age or older. This type of modeling involves glamour and sexual themes, which have no place in an underage model's career.
There aren't exactly any pinup modeling agencies per se probably because this field doesn't have the same high demand that commercial/print or fashion does that would allow agencies to make a stable profit. You may come across online modeling agencies that use pinup models but make sure that they are legit and credible. Chances are you may run into the whole "Pay X amount of dollars to set up your portfolio with us" type of situation. Many pinup models are freelance and don't deal with agents. Popular pinup models that have a wide fan base may hire on a manager to book them gigs and appearances. In these instances, having a manager over an agency is helpful if that option is open to you.
If you want to start your pinup career you're going to need to build a portfolio. This can be done through test shoots with local photographers in your area. Needless to say the photographers you work with should specialize in pinup photography and have a strong portfolio of their work to show you. Ask for references from other models as well and make sure that the photographer(s) you work with are professional. Pinup photography is an art and if you do an online search for classic pinup images you'll see what I'm talking about. There is a huge difference between tasteful pinup work and amateurish smut so make sure you're working with top notch quality people.
Pinup modeling usually consists of makeup that reflects the 1940s or similar eras, carefully styled coifs (hair) and sexy clothing, which can include lingerie, swimwear, boy shorts, etc. This is where the glamour element comes in. Instead of showcasing a product or fashion design, you are showcasing yourself. Not all pinup models have to pose nude or semi nude so if you don't feel comfortable showing skin, you don't have to and never allow someone to tell you otherwise.
I would suggest doing research about pinup modeling before pursuing it. Having a better understanding of this type of modeling will help you know what to expect and make it easier for you to deliver when doing your shoots.

FAQ For Boudoir
Frequently Asked Questions
How do I prepare for my boudoir or beauty session?
Please come with clean hair and a clean face free of makeup unless otherwise discussed. If you are booked for a boudoir session please don’t forget to shave, and wear loose clothing and undergarments so that they do not leave marks on your skin. It is imperative that you do not have elastic marks on your skin for the session!
What should I bring?
Bring several sets of outfits to choose from. It’s always better to bring more rather than not having enough. Bring a pair of shoes for each outfit; stunning heels can really make a shot great! Not to mention they give your legs a nice length and tighten everything up. More importantly, they just make you feel down right sexy! Don’t forget to complete the look with any jewelry and accessories that you may want to use.
Can I bring a friend?
Of Course you can. Your comfort is top priority and we would rather you be comfortable than overly nervous.
When can I expect my products?
We offer a variety of products, some of our products take as little as 4 days but others can take up to 3 weeks. If you are planning your session as a gift for someone, make sure to contact us at least three months prior to the date you need the product by to assure that you get your date booked and products delivered when necessary. We do offer rush orders for an additional charge, but prefer to have extra time just in case.

What does “Boudoir” mean?
Boudoir is French for bedroom, which most often is the setting for these photos.
I really want to do a session, but I don’t think I’m in shape enough...
BIG MISCONCEPTION!!!! Boudoir is NOT just for skinny women! It is for any woman of every size. All women are beautiful. It is our job as photographers to maximize your greatest assets and minimize the things you’re self-conscious about. Curves are a beautiful thing and we love to photograph them. If you really feel the need to lose weight before your session, schedule it for a few months away and let it be your driving factor and sweetest treat for reaching your goal! Also, talk to us about our "Get Healthy" incentive plan to get a bonus on your boudoir session.
I have a few images I like I found online and in magazines, can I bring them so I can get a shot like them?
Most definitely!!! The best way to show us what style you would like to portray is to bring us sample images of what you have in mind. Though we will not replicate any images exactly, we will produce something unique to you in the same style. You can find images online through various search terms such as boudoir photography, burlesque photography, erotic photography, intimate photography, glamour and artistic nudes. Be sure to bring any photos you have saved with you for your consultation appointment or email them before your session date so that we are prepared.
I want to do a boudoir session but I don’t want my photos posted online. Are my photos safe?
Yes, rest assured that your photos are completely safe. Every woman who you have seen on our website, blog, and anywhere else online or in print form has given us the honor of using their photos through a signed model release form. We will NEVER post ANY photos without signed permission. Many women find it a privilege to have their photos chosen to be displayed, but we certainly understand privacy concerns.
Can I post my photos online?
We gladly offer digital photos sized for the web with our logo on them. Copyright law states that the photos cannot be cropped or altered in any way. If you would like the photo cropped differently or changed in any way, please contact us and we will happily do it for you.
Who owns the copyrights to my photos? What does that mean?
Jacque Russell and Mark Russell, the photographers of Jacque Russell Imagery, own the copyrights to all the photographs taken during the session. This means that it is illegal to reproduce the photos in any way. That includes printing, posting online (without the Jacque Russell Imagery watermark), and/or selling the photos to others.
Do you provide lingerie or wardrobe for my session?
We do not provide you with lingerie for the session because we can't carry every size.. But we do have some that can be used. We will have a few accessories and things to use, but please bring your own wardrobe.
Do I need to buy all new lingerie for my session?
You do not need to buy all new lingerie for your session. While it is exciting having new lingerie that makes you feel sensual and sexy, (especially if you’re presenting your album as a gift and your partner hasn’t seen the lingerie yet!) just about anything can be made to look sexy for a boudoir session. You can use your partner's clothing (favorite T-shirt, button down shirt, boxers, uniform, etc.) for a personal touch, a sports jersey, leather jacket, bed sheet, cocktail dress, or you can opt for wearing nothing at all. Be creative!
Do I have to be nude?
Boudoir sessions can be stunning when you’re wearing anything from dresses and lingerie to nothing at all. You most certainly do not have to be nude for your session. What you wear, or don't wear, is entirely up to you and your comfort level. Your comfort is our top priority.
Is the photographer male or female?
Both! We, Jacque Russell and Mark Russell, work as a team to create stunning images that reflect visions from a male perspective as well as a female perspective. This is especially important if the recipient of the photographs is a man. Our visions are uniquely different as are our styles of photography. We are very fortunate to be able provide a dynamic combination of styles and perspectives.
Do you retouch skin?
Yes, we do retouch skin and temporary imperfections. If you have birthmarks, scars or permanent features that you would like removed please discuss this with us.
Do you help with posing?
As boudoir photographers it is our job to find the most flattering poses for you. We will give you guidance throughout the photographic process and help you to look your absolute best! We will also coach you with facial expressions.
Can I bring music?
Of course! In fact we highly recommend that you bring a good play-list that gets YOU going. Music can really set the tone and get you in the mood. If you don’t have any music to bring, we have an ever-expanding play-list for boudoir sessions.
Can I drink to relax before I come to my session?
We advise you to limit yourself to one drink ONLY! One drink can work wonders to relax you, while more than one can hinder the process and lessen your awareness. Not to mention make you feel bloated, which is NOT good for a boudoir session! We do have a small selection of wine available for you to sip on while you're getting pampered during hair and makeup.
I'm extremely nervous; can I take something for my nerves?
We highly advise against taking any sort of anxiety medication before your session, unless it is a medication that you take daily. Every client who comes to us for a boudoir session is nervous, it's perfectly normal. We will help you to relax and feel comfortable during your session. We will provide good music and great conversation to loosen you up. It generally takes about 5 minutes into the session for you to not even realize you're in your undies anymore!
Do you photograph same sex couples?
Yes we do. We know that love has no boundaries and enjoy photographing all couples, no matter their sexual orientation..
Will you photograph a man?
Absolutely! Our site is geared towards women because boudoir photography is more popular among women, but we do not discriminate against sex, or in any way. Couples are welcome as well!

Portraiture Couture ~ Boudoir, Glamour, Burlesque, Pin up: What is the difference?
Boudoir, Glamour, Burlesque, Pin up: What is the
difference?
So you know that you would
love to have a sexy Portraiture Couture` session, but you’re not sure which
type you want. Or you’re not sure what the difference is. Well this will be
your guide to sorting that all out. And if you still are not sure which session
would make all your dreams come true, just ask us and we will help you to
decide which type of session is just right for you! Or we can do a little of
all.
Boudoir: Boudoir merely means a lady’s private
bedroom, dressing, or sitting room. This type of photography is based on
sensuality, not sexuality. Boudoir photographs are softer in appearance (no, we
don’t mean fuzzy!). There is rarely nudity, as it is implied in boudoir, rather
than displayed (i.e.: covered by a sheet in such a way that it implies you have
nothing under there). Think satin sheets and pearls.
Burlesque: Burlesque is the theatrical playful
strip tease; originally it was about turning society’s norms upside down. A
burlesque session is colorful and fun; it is all about sexuality, but not
necessarily nudity. Burlesque photography is very prop and costume focused,
letting you step outside of your everyday self and explore your naughty darker
side: this is what makes burlesque so dramatic. Think fishnet stockings and
feathers!
Pin Up: Pin up art was originally informal
drawings and photographs that were pinned up on your wall, like a 1940’s girly
calendar. A pin up session aims to re-create the feeling of a 1940’s
photograph: flirty and eye popping color. These sessions are fun and have a
real nostalgic feel to them. Here partial nudity is an option as a form of a
flirty naughty tease. Think polka dots and bright red lipstick- bare feet
optional.
Glamour:
Glamour is quality of beauty and/ or charm that
makes someone appear sexually attractive. It is usually superficial and more of
an illusion. In ancient Celtic Myth, glamour was a type of magic used by the
Sidhe (sirens/fairy people) to lure unsuspecting people to their doom or for
mating depending on the lore. It's a combination of charm and grace, allure
and the kind of attraction that says sexuality in a very understated way.
If you still have questions
please feel free to contact us 307-286-1908 or info@jrussellimagery.com, and ask away. Whatever style you choose we will
ensure you have the most comfortable session and enjoyable experience. And we
are always open to creativity and experimentation. Perhaps once you’ve tried
one type of session, you’ll be tempted to try out another type of photography
style and explore a different aspect of yourself. Watch our blog, Twitter, and
Facebook pages for exclusive promotions, and take advantage of some discounts.
